Killdeer
It's that time of year again when the Killdeer start screaming in the back of my yard. That usually means one thing. Their babies have hatched and they are trying to convince some poor fool or animal that its wing is broken. They do this to get the attention of the person or animal that might be getting to close to their babies. These birds might fool others but they sure don't fool me. I heard the parents chirping away today and as these kids from the block looked at the poor Killdeer with the "broken" wing, I started scanning the surrounding area for the chicks. A few seconds later, I saw 4 little ones frozen and crouched low to the ground. These Killdeer parents deserve an Oscar®! They led these kids halfway across the other side of the block. I was able to take some pics of two of the chicks as they walked over towards my back window.

Baby chicks feeding in the backyard.

Close-up of one of the fluffy babys.

Momma Killdeer spots me through the window.

Sandmen
Seems like a few idigenous life forms from the planet of Tatooine have landed in Cleveland to help Jules sand the floors of his new home. "Hoooodeeneeeee!"
Sammy and the Kids
Yesterday we invited Sammy and the kids over for some burgers and dogs. It was a lot of fun but then I threw my back out. That's another story (my neck, my back....)! Here are some of the pics from last evening.

Sex and the City - Cleveland
I just got a Netflix recommendation for Sex and the City-Cleveland. Have ya'll seen it?!? It's F'ing Hilarious!!!! It's about four beautiful female Clevelanders (Renee, Theresa, Melissa and Penny) who gossip about their sex-lives (or lack thereof) and find new ways to deal with being a woman in the millenium. I give it 4 stars!

Vacas Para Todos (Cows For Everyone)
I can't believe it's been seven years since Chicago hosted the first Cows On Parade exhibit. Since then it has traveled around the world. Those darn cows are now walking around in Lisbon, Portugal, and this commercial promoting the event is pretty cool. It's got a Brokeback twist to it. Enjoy!

Kitchen, Before & After
I finally completed the kitchen today!!! It's amazing how a little splash of color can change the mood of a room. The project took about a week. I could have been done sooner but towards the end I was getting a bit lazy and putting things off. But it's done!!!! Woot woot! Below are some "Before" and "After" shots.

Painting The Kitchen - Day 4
So I woke up at 8am today to get a jump start on putting the first coat of paint on the kitchen wall. Brian was very eager to help me. He came downstairs but for some reason wound up sleeping on the couch instead of lending me a hand. Whatevs, I started without him.

By 10am I had the edges done.

And take a wild guess who was still sleeping???I contined along and guess who finally woke up at 11:00am? Yawp, and what did he do? He started yappin' it up on the phone. Probably was Renee from The Correll.
By noon I had finished putting the the whole coat of paint on. Brian did lend his hand. No pun intended. I could of smacked the beeotch! Thanks for all your help Brian!
Ahhh, the finished product at last. It'll probably need a second coat but I think I'll do that tomorrow.

Painting the Kitchen - Day 3
I was able to prime the entire wall of the kitchen. I felt like vomiting afterwards. Either I'm pregs or the fumes got to me. I'm so done with painting now. I'm glad the primer is on the walls. First thing tomorrow I'm going to slap the first coat of Mexican Red Chilli on them. Woot woot!
Painting the Kitchen - Day 2
Guten Abend. I just got back from meine Deutsche class and started working on the kitchen again. I started priming the edges of the walls. Didn't get too much done since it was a very late start. I'm already getting sick and tired of paining. Ughhh. I'll probably finish priming the entire wall manana. I'm off to bed!

Painting the Kitchen - Day 1
Today I decided to start the long overdue project of painting the kitchen. I bought the paint from the Depot like 8 months ago so here goes nothing. Day 1 was nothing but standing around looking at the walls and thinking what I was getting myself into and then clearing everything out. That was pretty much it. More work to come.

Making The Switch
We finally have internet access after a long wait of 10 days, 14 hours, and 8mins and 36 seconds!!! We decided to switch after we realized that Comcast was raping us of our cash. Instead of paying $46 a month, we are now paying $17.99 with AT&T DSL. Not only that but our download speed is a lot faster too!!!! I just checked today and my download is 2007Kbps! WTF!!! Pinch me! Am I dreaming?!? I loves me some AT&T! I also realized I'm addicted to the net. I was on a high after we got it hooked up again!

Rocio 'cerro' sus ojitos.
Rocio Durcal, one of my favorite Spanish singers passed away today after a long battle with cancer in her home in Madrid, Spain. She was famous throughout Latin America and Spain for singing all types of music including pasodobles, ballads, twist, rock and roll, cumbias, rumbas and most of all, rancheras and mariachi. One of the best memories I have of her is seeing her in concert with my mom at the Chicago Theater a few years back and then waiting to meet her as she exited the theater. She will be missed.

'Como quisieramos que sus ojitos jamas se huberian cerrado nunca'. Descanse en paz la gran espanola.

Arson Suspect Detained For Questioning
Ohio City, OH: Authorities investigating an early morning car fire say they suspect arson is the cause.

The incident was first reported by
The Correl early Sunday morning. The fire damaged a 1986 Chevrolet Nova parked in the 4200 block of John Court. One fireman was hospitalized with smoke inhalation. Residents of an adjacent condemned building were also safely evacuated for fears of the fire spreading due to windy conditions at the time. The blaze closed down all lanes of John Court for several hours during the morning rush hour.

In a written statement, the Cleveland Police Department said detectives have detained 3 year
old Tyrel "Peanuts" Jenkins for questioning in connection with the blaze. Authorities are also searching for another suspect who fled on paws towards the neighborhood near John Ave. The suspect is described as a one foot, grey male Sciurus with a thick furry tale, big cheeks, and large black eyes. If you or anyone else have seen anyone matching this description, you are asked to call the Cleveland Police Department or your local authorities.
